Today I had the great pleasure of photographing my oldest friend outside of my family. This gal and I have been friends since the second grade when our mothers forced us to hang out. We have so many great memories together in school, on the swim team, and hanging out together over the years. It is always fun to take pictures of her adorable toddlers, even if it is mostly like herding cats!
So here is the behind the scenes action of shooting a family with toddlers. Of course on Facebook you see the one picture of everyone looking at the camera and behaving. But we all know our kids are not like that 95% of the time!
Here is the play by play:
Our session began with an unhappy twin who just wanted his Aunt (camera right) to hold him, and the crying ensued. Way to keep looking at the camera, mom and dad!
Then dear Auntie had to run and hide so he would stop crying. We decide to go for a walk and find a lovely spot on the rocks. Mom sits, but toddlers run up a hill laughing.
So, sitting doesn't seem to be a good idea, so I shoot them running around, in their element.
We find a shaded area and attempt to get all three cherubs sitting together, but mom is only one person, and they are just too fast to get away!
So I decide to get one of mom and dad while they run around behind me.
We attempt another family shot, and this time I hand them acorns to keep them occupied. Great plan! Except that they liked to throw them the moment they had them. But, it managed to work for about 30 seconds, and I had everyone looking at me, so, score!!
Then we wise up, and divide and conquer. Dad takes the boys, and mom does a wardrobe change with our birthday girl.
We head back toward the car, grab a few more family shots walking, and call it a day!
