I have known this family longer than pretty much anyone I know outside of my own relatives. They were my second family growing up and most of my memories somehow involve being at their house, being carted around in their mini-van with the fake wood panels, and being treated like the extra child in the family. I have photographed them for several years but this year was different. Someone was missing this time. Not just someone. The one that supported each one of the people in these pictures and loved them wholeheartedly. The one that had no greater love than being with these people. The one with a laugh I can still hear in my head and a voice I can still imagine. There was no one quite like her. She was given a gift card for another round of family pictures for this year and it pains me so much that she is not in these photos. I know how deeply she loved her family, her friends, and how she touched so many of our lives. She was an example to us of how to love your people well and I know her legacy now lives on through her family. We miss you, Pat.

I always look forward to seeing this awesome family each year! Covid postponed our original photography session but we had a great fall photo session instead! I love this little spot in Trenton, OH for taking family photos. It was my pleasure to take family pictures of this sweet momma and her awesome children. We stumbled upon this location, and it turned out to be a really amazing spot for pictures!
Our state just enacted a stay at home order. Since the closing of schools on March 12, many of us have already been at home with our children and working mostly from home. I decided to offer my neighbors a portrait session so that we can remember these "unprecedented" times. (I have heard that word so many times these past few weeks and it kind of drives me nuts... but here we are.)
Being able to provide these sessions was truly a blessing to me. I met more neighbors while "sheltering in place" (another phrase I could live without hearing again...) than I have in four years of living in this neighborhood. We are all going through this experience in close proximity and we each have our own struggles but I have already seen neighbors talking more across lawns, waving more to those who walk by, and just acknowledging each other and the shared experience we are living through. Here are some of the photos that I took (from a distance of course...) Being a photographer of toddlers is quite an adventure! It really is a lot of fun interacting with young children and seeing their personality shine through. While everyone loves a picture of their child smiling at the camera, I find that my clients' favorite images are the ones that show their child in their element just being themselves. I always enjoy photographing this guy, and can't believe he is three already!
Fall is finally here! The leaves are at their peak, and this family had a gorgeous night at the park for family pictures.
As summer comes to its close, there have still been plenty of hot days here in southern Ohio! This family photography portrait session was located at a park in Trenton, OH, complete with a breathtaking sunset and several hot air balloons passing by. It was in the mid-80s during this session, but these boys and their parents were troopers!
If you have lived in Mason for any length of time, you may recognize some of these fine folks. I have known this family for over 20 years already, and always have a blast spending time with them. Taking their family photos is always lots of fun. Here are some of the highlights!
