Being a photographer in Cincinnati is amazing. I love the backdrop of our bridges, stadiums, and beautiful parks along the river. Smale Park is one of my favorite places to photograph families. It was a HOT summer morning (we were all sweating and it was only 9 am!) but everyone did an amazing job.
Oh, how I love taking senior pictures! Cincinnati has so many great locations for senior pictures and this spot did not disappoint! Have an amazing senior year, Kenzie!
2020. What a year. I can't tell you how good it feels to be back behind the camera. This session was so much fun and being in downtown Cincinnati at Smale Park for photography sessions is always a treat. It was good for my soul to be back doing what I love to do.
Do your local small businesses a favor as they reopen. Like their social media pages. Comment and encourage them. Buy gift cards from them to help them get back up and running.
And it is always fun being photobombed by Cincinnati's finest...
Our state just enacted a stay at home order. Since the closing of schools on March 12, many of us have already been at home with our children and working mostly from home. I decided to offer my neighbors a portrait session so that we can remember these "unprecedented" times. (I have heard that word so many times these past few weeks and it kind of drives me nuts... but here we are.)
Being able to provide these sessions was truly a blessing to me. I met more neighbors while "sheltering in place" (another phrase I could live without hearing again...) than I have in four years of living in this neighborhood. We are all going through this experience in close proximity and we each have our own struggles but I have already seen neighbors talking more across lawns, waving more to those who walk by, and just acknowledging each other and the shared experience we are living through.
Here are some of the photos that I took (from a distance of course...)
Sometimes the evening light is simply PERFECT for sessions. This was one of those nights. It may have been unseasonably warm (record breaking heat to be exact...) but this senior session went beautifully. I am so glad that I hauled my Victorian couch out to the park for the occasion!
This is one spacious house! It features five bedrooms, a finished basement, and a breakfast room overlooking a beautiful pool! Full listing here. Stop by the open house on Sunday, September 29 from 12:30-2.
This house has been remodeled from top to bottom and features three bedrooms, a brand new kitchen with butcher block counter tops, a clean, fresh bathroom with subway tiles, and a spacious three-room basement plus additional storage space. The detached garage is quite large and a great place for a workshop! Full listing here.
Here is a quick peek into the life of Cin Day Photo in September. This month and next are always the busiest months for my business. It is a lot of fun, and I love that I get to do several different types of photography. This week featured school pictures for two homeschool groups, two real estate photography sessions, covering an event at a local farm, photographing a visiting pastor from Ghana, Africa, and helping a dentist update his website with new headshots and building photos.
This coming week I have a few fall family sessions, a few seniors, and a swim team! I'm looking forward to each and every session. :)
The other night, I went to a local photographer's meet up where we exchanged headshots, talked, laughed, ate Mexican food, and had a blast. Thank you to Mill Street Studios for opening your doors to us!
We were randomly placed in groups, and I was lucky to have some fabulous ladies in my group. This is Chia Marie of For Forever Imagery. She was nice enough to share her super fun hat with the group. :)
Then Chia let me wear her hat and snapped this one of me.
Next in our group was Ellieana of Photos By Ellieana.
And then the hat made a comeback.
And then there was Courtney of CSmalley Photography. She wore the hat as well, I just for some reason didn't get pictures of her in it! We had a very fun night.
Cincinnati is a great city to take headshots. But just north of town, in a lovely, growing suburb called Liberty Township, there is a great new outdoor space that is a fantastic location for headshots. I had the pleasure of taking headshots for Stacy Dickman, whose latest book is due to come out soon. (Check out her last book here.) She wanted to update her headshots for her latest book, and I was happy to take them! We literally had so much fun taking these photos, and believe it or not, we only spent 30 minutes taking all of these different looks. I laughed so much, and I think she had just as much fun as I did. :)
